17th Annual Falls Church News-Press Holiday Party, Monday, Dec. 18, 5:30-8:00 p.m., 222 N. Washington St. (next to State Theatre).

First off, I want to make it clear that this is a by-invitation-only party. Those invited are “friends of the News-Press.” Now, if you consider yourself one of those, then you are most sincerely invited and encouraged to bring family and friends to join 150 to 200 or so others who’ve seemed always to have a good time at this annual event. It’s free, it’s catered by Ledo Pizza, Santa makes an appearance, and there’s live music by a brass and sax ensemble from George Mason High School. The church that owns the space and is renting it out for the evening has also done a stupendous job decorating it. So, all in all, it’s a great place for friends, friends of the News-Press, that is, to gather and disagree, as they often do, about many things, except for their shared love for their hometown paper.
