Jody’s Jam of the Week

Martha, Josie and the Chinese Elvis

Thanksgiving weekend is all about tradition. From the turkey, football and parades on Thursday to the shopping madness and leftovers on Friday, there are some things you can just count on each year. This weekend, however, why not shake things up a bit and start a new tradition with the Chinese Elvis? This weekend (and through December 17), the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company is performing what DC Theater Reviews calls “the best damn Christmas show ever!” Written by Charlotte Jones and directed by John Vreeke, Martha, Josie and the Chinese Elvis is the story of a dominatrix who is thinking of calling it quits as she nears her 40th birthday. Throw in an obsessive compulsive and a Chinese Elvis and you’ve got a eccentric cast of characters that would most certainly be a welcomed addition to your Thanksgiving tradition.
