As seen here on Wednesday, workers have begun laying the new turf across the field at George Mason High School’s Moore Cadillac Stadium. The field turf is the latest and greatest of synthetic outdoor athletic surfaces, mimicking real grass. Funds from the City of Falls Church Recreation and Parks Department paid for the improvements to the field, which will also be used by city athletic programs. The Mason High varsity football will get to break in the turf when they face cross-town opponent J.E.B. Stuart in the Mustangs’ home opener at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 8. Look for more information on the the Mustangs and other area athletic programs in next week’s edition. (Photo: News-Press)
