AA Sidewinders vs. Scrappers — Sidney Marsh recorded a number of key outs over several innings for the Scrappers, but it wasn’t enough to stave off the Sidewinders’ big bats, as the Scrappers fell to the Sidewinders 14-0.

Majors As the season moved into full swing, it was a time for home runs. Joining the 2009 home run club were: Chris Meador, Nationals; Ben Torpey and Will Iacobbucci, Cubs; Patrick Evans, A’s; Michael Behrens and Gabe Terry, Yankees; and Sam Selby and Jackson DuBro, Red Sox.

Falls Church Kiwanis Little League Report

Spring’s promise of hope was in the air as some 400 players ages 5 – 12 representing 35 teams joined with their families to launch the Falls Church Kiwanis Little Leagues’ 61st season on Saturday, April 18, at Westgate Park.

Small Roster Plays Negative for Colts

With a few players from George Mason High School (GMHS) out for a showcase, the Falls Church Colts were trimmed down to a roster of 10 and fell in both games of a doubleheader to the W.T. Woodson 18U baseball team last Saturday by a combined score of 29-8.

Following a recent slide in which the Falls Church Colts fell to .500 for the first time all season, the 18-under AAU team has found their stride, pounding out timely hits and playing solid defense, as the summer team took three in a row last week to bump their record to 8-5-1.

Mason High Offshoot Team Begins Season 4-1-1 After disbanding for one year, the 18U Falls Church Colts have experienced a revival of sorts this summer, as the AAU team under the direction of George Mason High School varsity baseball coach Adam Amerine has gone undefeated in their first five games, compiling a 4-1-1 record.
