Meridian Volleyball Sweeps Brentsville, Earns Third Straight Win

The Meridian High School girls’ volleyball team won all three sets against Brentsville, and improved to 10-5 in what continues to be a breakout season for Milena Racic’s squad in her fourth year as the program’s head coach.

After beating Justice and Warren County on back-to-back nights last week, the Mustangs welcomed Brentsville to town for a high-level Northwestern District matchup. The Tigers were 6-5 entering the night, and certainly wouldn’t be a pushover for a Meridian squad seeking its third straight win.

All three sets were closely contested, but the Mustangs prevailed by increasingly greater margins each time, winning the first set 25-21, the second 25-18, and the third 25-16. During their three-game winning streak, they’ve taken nine of ten sets.

“This was a good win for us,” said Racic postgame. “They’re a quality team, and we played three great sets. We have a couple injuries right now but we’re confident with the direction we’re headed.”

Meridian’s tenth win of the season surpasses their 2022 total, ties their mark from 2023, and leaves them only three shy of last year’s 13-11 record. There’s still six regular season games to go.

The Mustangs will look to keep rolling tomorrow, where they’ll stay home to play host to Fauquier.
