Ribbon Cutting Marks Grand Opening of 10-Acre West End

Thursday, Sept. 25 — A ribbon cutting ceremony featuring Falls Church Mayor Letty Hardi and Hoffman, Inc. president Maria Hoffman this morning marked the formal opening of the City of Falls Church’s 10-acre West End development that was initiated by the City a decade ago in connection with and to pay for a state of the art new high school.

The project with over 500 residences, 125,000 square feel of commercial uses, a hotel, a medical building, senior living and 20,000 square feet of public open space, has generated revenue that paid for a $120 million new Meridian High School adjacent it without burdening local residential taxpayers.

Speaking at the grand opening, Mayor Hardi said, referring to Falls Church’s slogan as “The Little City,” “This is our Little City growing up. We now have the most modern high school in Virginia because of this project. This development shows the Little City can think big and deliver. It is transformational for us.”
