Blast Ball is for pre-k (3 and 4 year olds)
6U Program (Tee-Ball) is for players in kindergarten
8U Program is for players in 1st or 2nd grade
10U Program is for players in 3rd or 4th grade
12U Program is for players in 5th or 6th grade
MS Program is for players in 7th or 8th grade
HS Program is for players in 9th to 12th grade
Please note that depending on the number of registrations for the 6U level, 6U may be combined with the 8U league. This has been done successfully in the past for VGSL as the rules across these two leagues are exactly the same. If combined, the 8U league would include players in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades. The coaches are prepared to ensure the players have fun and develop softball skills appropriate for those age groups. If anyone has a concern, please reach out directly to the 6U/8U Commissioner (jasonniethamer@gmail.com) to discuss further.
VGSL’s coaches code of conduct requires that coaches provide all players who are on their teams playing in their recommended age group with equal playing time. Should a player choose to play outside of the VGSL grade guideline, the coach may choose to reduce that player’s play time and/or positions for safety reasons. VGSL gives coaches great latitude in that determination. To request registration outside of your recommended age group, please email Eric Cohen, Director of Registrations, BEFORE registering.
While VGSL will try to honor requests for specific coaches/teams, the assignment cannot be guaranteed based on the need to balance teams. After registration closes and teams are formed, you will receive a welcome letter from the coach. Full refunds will be given if teams cannot form for lack of coaches. VOLUNTEERS ARE CRITICAL at all age group. VGSL wants every girl with a desire to be able to play!

High School division players seeking to join VGSL upon completion of high school tryouts may contact the registrar for a discount code to offset the late fee.
