Last Thursday the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission (NVTC), of which the City of Falls Church is a founding member, celebrated their 60th Anniversary.  F.C. councilmember David Snyder, who with over 30 years as an NVTC is the longest serving active commissioner, was in attendance. Representing the City at the event were councilmember Justine Underhill, principal planner Kerri Oddenino, and community relations and legislative affairs director Cindy Mester.

Also in attendance were Sen. Tim Kaine, Rep. Don Beyer, and Virginia Sen. Saddam Salim (who is currently serving as the the NVTC member commissioner for the Virginia General Assembly.

During the event a documentary film was unveiled which tells the 60-year history of local bus systems, WMATA, and VRE rail in the region. The documentary included interviews of several current and former local elected officials, including David Snyder and the late Carol DeLong.  The documentary will be posted to the NVTC website early next week.
