Fairfax Co. Detectives Seek Public Help in ID’ing Stabbing Suspect

The Fairfax County Police Department’s detectives are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the person who stabbed a 71-year-old man in the Culmore area of Falls Church.

According to Fairfax Co. police, the victim was walking near the 3400 block of Payne Street when a man grabbed him from behind and stabbed him in the torso on Tuesday, Dec. 4 around 8:30 p.m. The suspect then ran away into the neighborhood and nothing was taken from the victim during this incident, per FCPD.  Fairfax County police report that the victim was taken to a local hospital where he underwent surgery, and he is now recovering from his injuries.

Fairfax County police describe the suspect as a male, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing around 180 pounds and wearing a black mask.  The victim said the suspect was yelling at him with an Arabic accent, per the police.

Detectives are asking anyone who was in the area from 7:30 – 9 p.m. that evening, or has information that could lead to identifying a possible suspect, to please contact Detective Lawalt at the Mason District Station at 703-256-8035.
