Following the historic name changing effort in Fairfax County resulting in the abandonment of Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart’s name for a Falls Church area high school now called Justice High School, a vote was taken in Richmond this week to change the name of J.E.B. Stuart Elementary to Barack Obama Elementary.

Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney said, “Not only will we no longer have a school named after a Confederate general, in a school where over 80 percent of the students are African-American, this change will give them a modern day role model for them to look up to and learn from.”
