F.C. Homeless Shelter Announces New Director

The Friends of Falls Church Homeless Shelter, a local nonprofit organization that has provided emergency winter shelter to people experiencing homelessness in the City of Falls Church since 1996, has announced the selection of Dr. Kerry Searle Grannis as its new executive director.

“We are confident that as the Shelter’s first executive director, Dr. Grannis will provide strong leadership as we develop our vision for the Shelter in its third decade in the City,” board chair Kerry Bruce said.

Grannis comes to the Shelter with a strong background in nonprofit administration, including expertise in strategic management, funding and outreach. A resident of F.C. and the surrounding area for 15 years, Grannis is an active member of Falls Church Presbyterian Church, where she serves as an elder. In addition to her part-time role as executive director, she will continue her work as associate director of the Hutchins Center on Fiscal and Monetary Policy at the Brookings Institution.
