LAST WEEK AT THE Falls Church City Council meeting, two families accepted proclamations presented on behalf of recently deceased members who made valuable contributions to the Falls Church community and the world, with each photo showing the full compliment of the City’s seven Council members in the rear: (l to r) Letty Hardi, Karen Oliver, David Snyder, Mayor David Tarter, Marybeth Connelly, Phil Duncan and Dan Sze. The photo left features the family of the late Roger Neighborgall, with his wife, Linda, also a civic activist, in the center.

Neighborgall, who died at age 93 in September, was hailed for his accomplishments in the Falls Church community and also for his heroic service during World War II in the Normandy invasion, Battle of the Bulge and more.

In the photo on the right, the family of Leah Ruth Dinnison Porzel is shown. She died in October at age 98 after a lifetime of service including as president of the Northern Virginia Mental Health Association, on the board of the Aurora House, a docent of the Cherry Hill Farmhouse and choir member of the St. James Church.
