City of Falls Church Opens 2 Toy Donation Drives

The City of Falls Church is accepting toys for two donation campaigns to help local children enjoy the holiday. New and unwrapped toys are needed for the donation drives, Toys for Tots and Santa’s Ride.

The City of Falls Church Police Department and Police Association are participating in the Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots campaign for the 15th year in a row. The toys are donated to less fortunate children in the community who may otherwise not have anything to unwrap on Christmas morning.

Collection boxes can be found in the Police Department lobby (City Hall, 300 Park Ave., East Wing, Level G2), the City Manager’s Office (City Hall, 300 Park Ave., East Wing, Suite 303), the Community Center (223 Little Falls St.), and the Mary Riley Styles Public Library (120 N. Virginia Ave.). The deadline to donate is Sunday, Dec. 11.

The City of Falls Church Sheriff’s Office is collecting toys for Santa’s Ride at City Hall’s West Wing, Level 2. Since 1988, “Santa and his elves” have been rumbling down the streets on motorcycles picking up and delivering toys to children in local hospitals.

Once again this year, Santa will temporarily trade in his sleigh and reindeer for a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and police escort. The Sheriff’s Office joins the Fairfax County Police Motorcycle Squad, the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office, the Virginia State Police, Fairfax City Police, the Town of Vienna Police and the Herndon Police to escort Santa on his annual “Ride for Children.” The deadline to donate is Monday, Dec.12.
