Rare Bird Coffee Roasters opened up on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 230 W. Broad Street. The coffee shop is offering 7 – 10 different types of coffee, depending on what they’ve roasted that week. It is also serving scones, cookies, baked goods from Village Sweet Bakery, croissants from Natalia’s Elegant Creations and pie by the slice from Acme Pie Co. They also have coffee-making appliances for sale.

Rare Bird is the second to open within a block of the Starbucks in the Broadale Village Shopping Center in the last few months. The other was another Starbucks that’s located inside the new Harris Teeter that opened in July.

Rare Bird’s hours are 6:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday and 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Sunday. The shop is closed on Mondays.

Glory Days Grill, a sports-themed family restaurant with locations in four states, is opening a new restaurant in Falls Church. The new location, which will be the company’s seventh location in Fairfax County, will be located in the Barcroft Plaza Shopping Center, at the intersection of Columbia Pike and Lincoln Road. Specifically, Glory Days Grill will anchor the east side of the shopping center when it opens during the summer of 2017.

“We are thrilled to welcome Glory Days Grill to the Lake Barcroft neighborhood. I am sure our community will enjoy their sports themed and family-oriented restaurant, and neighbors will also benefit from Glory Days’ commitment and deep ties to our local schools,” said Kari Glinski, director of asset management at Federal Realty.

Glory Days’ new location will feature over 7,000 square feet of dining, bar and private banquet seating, with several TVs broadcasting sports, news and entertainment. The Falls Church restaurant will provide fundraising programs for schools and teams, and managers will accept applications for team sponsorships starting in the fall of 2017.

Both Pokémon Go pizza and cookie specials will be available through the end of August.
