Crime Experts Visit Mason Forensic Chemistry Students

Last month, students in the forensic chemistry class at George Mason High School were visited by two experts on how science is applied to the law. Professor Jennifer Givens from the Virginia Innocence Project spoke with students about the reliability of eyewitnesses, the challenge of obtaining DNA evidence and the legality of jailhouse testimony.

The week after that, Nina Sylvester, a crime scene specialist with the D.C. Department of Forensics, shared her expertise in gathering evidence at the scene of a crime.
