Harris Teeter officially opened their W. Broad Street location on Wednesday, July 27, a few minutes after 8 a.m., with a ribbon cutting ceremony that was attended by over 50 people, including Falls Church City officials, business leaders and Virginia State Delegate Marcus Simon.

Shoppers filled the store’s vestibule, carts and baskets in hand, ready to browse the store’s selections as Falls Church City Mayor David Tarter and the store manager John Taylor gave remarks prior to the ribbon cutting. Taylor thanked the Falls Church City and Fairfax County communities for their cooperation with Harris Teeter in the process of opening the new store. The grocery store’s opening, which has been in the works since at least 2013, features a Starbucks Coffee and will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Coral Rankin of Falls Church was the first shopper to reach the register of the newest market in town.
