Composter Building Workshop Slated for July 30

The Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting a Build-Your-Own Composter Workshop on Saturday, July 30 from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. at the Falls Church City Community Center located at 223 Little Falls Street.

At the workshop, participants will start with a pile of recycled lumber, a recycled pickle barrel and assorted screws and bolts, then leave with a fully functioning tumbler style composter. Instructors will take participants through the steps required to construct a composter and offer primers on proper composting techniques.

The finished composter will hold 55 gallons of organic material. All lumber will be pre-cut and all tools and other materials will be provided. The workshop costs $75 and registration is limited to 15 people. For more information or to register, email recycling@fallschurchva.gov or visit fallschurchva.gov/520/Composting-Workshops.
