Falls Church HS Players Receive Post-Season Accolades

Several players on Falls Church High School spring sports teams received post-season accolades recently. Three girls from the Jaguars’ varsity girls lacrosse team received Virginia High School League 5A North All-Region selections and one boy from the Jaguars’ varsity boys soccer team received accolades from the Virginia High School League and the Washington Post.

Two juniors led the way for the Jaguars’ varsity girls lacrosse team. Midfielder Sophia Omar and defender Rachel Rannazissi were named to the Virginia High School League’s 5A North All-Region Second Team. Sophomore Hannah Bond received a selection to the Virginia High School League’s 5A North All-Region Honorable Mention list. The Jaguars reached the Conference 13 semifinal this season, where they lost to Edison High School 13-4.

The Jaguars’ varsity boys soccer team went on a tear in the postseason after posting a 6-7-1 regular season record, winning the Conference 13 championship over Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology and reaching the summit of the 5A North Region and the 5A division as a whole in the Virginia High School League’s state tournament.

The Jaguars lost by a 2-1 margin to Ablemarle High School in the 5A North Region championship and then lost to them again in the Virginia High School League state championship by 1-0 margin. Leading the charge for the Jaguars was senior midfielder Mohamed Zulikfely, who earned a selection to the Virginia High School League’s 5A All-State First Team. Zulikfely also earned a selection to the Washington Post‘s All-Met Honorable Mentions list.
