The Peace Advocacy Network has organized a Vegan Pledge Program for local residents who are interested in leading a cruelty-free lifestyle. The program, which starts on Saturday, April 2, guides people through 30 days of being vegan with the program’s hands-on support.
The support includes five weekly meetings consisting of cooking demonstrations, speakers addressing environmental, ethical, health, and practical issues, a personal mentor (experienced vegan), optional social events for even more support and a care package to ease the transition to becoming a vegan.
The program is free, but the organizers require those taking the pledge to take a pre-pledge phone conversation before the program starts with pledges agreeing to consume only vegan items for the full 30 days.
The Vegan Pledge Program kicks on Saturday, April 2 at Walter Reed Community Center, located at 2909 S. 16th St., Arlington, from 1:45 – 4:45 p.m. For more information, contact Deb Durant at deboradurant@gmail.com or visit peaceadvocacynetwork.org/find-a-city/dc-nova.
