3 Vegetable Gardening Workshops Slated for February

The Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners of Northern Virginia are presenting three workshops for beginning vegetable gardeners at three locations in Arlington and Alexandria in February.

The workshop will focus on site selection, soil requirements and soil improvement as well as crop selection and planting schedules.  Participants will also learn how to start seeds indoors and how to transplant seedlings.

The first workshop will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 7 – 8:30 p.m. in the Senior Lounge at Walter Reed Recreation Center, 2909 S. 16th St., Arlington. The second will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 16, from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at the Kate Waller Barrett Branch Library, 717 Queen St., Alexandria and third will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20, from 10:30 a.m. – noon at the Ellen Coolidge Burke Branch Library, 4701 Seminary Road, Alexandria.
