Registration recently opened for summer sewing classes with The Finishing School, a sewing school based in Falls Church. The school, which is located at 609 Park Ave., Falls Church, offers children the opportunity to learn the basics of machine sewing, serging and understanding patterns.

During the week-long sessions students make fun and useful projects including, character pillows, bags, cute skirts, summer shorts, tops and quilts. The first session starts on June 27 and the last session starts on August 29. There is also an option for children to take a 10-week course from June 27 – September 2 and attend classes once a week for an hour throughout the course.

The weekly camps are offered Monday – Friday with morning sessions from 9 – 11 a.m. and afternoon sessions from 2 – 4 p.m. The cost for the weekly sessions and the 10-week course cost $250 and supplies.
