F.C. Resident to Work on World Premiere of Musical

Falls Church resident Matthew Brehm, a senior theatre major at Longwood University, will serve as the assistant lighting designer for the world premiere of “Kris Kringle The Musical,” which will run from December 4 – 13 at the Olmsted Performing Arts Center in Ohio.

“I’m extremely excited about this opportunity, especially because I will work with equipment I’ve never worked with before,” Brehm said. “It’s the kind of thing where, when I heard about it, I knew I couldn’t pass it up. I am incredibly grateful to be able to be part of the team.”

Brehm was chosen as the assistant lighting designer by his mentor at Longwood, Professor Scott Chapman, who was hired  as the show’s lighting designer in April. Chapman asked the producers of the show if Brehm could join him and they agreed.

The two will leave for Ohio, where they will work on the Christmas-oriented production, on November 22 and attend the opening night of the show. They will return to campus the next day, two days before Brehm begins his final exams.
