F.C. League of Women Voters Hosts Public Forum

The League of Women Voters of Falls Church is hosting a forum called “Is It Time to Consider a Constitutional Convention and The Process of Amending the Constitution” on Sunday, Nov. 8 from 3 – 4:30 p.m. at the Falls Church Community Center at 223 Little Falls Street.

Thomas H. Neale, a specialist in American national government with the Library of Congress’s Congressional Research Service, will be the keynote speaker at the forum, which will explore Article V of the Constitution, which provides methods of amending the nation’s fundamental charter. He will review the path that was used for the 27 amendments that were previously ratified and also the convention method for proposing amendments.

The League of Women Voters of Falls Church is joining with other League of Women Voters chapters around the country in a national study of the processes of amending the Constitution. In a press release about the event, the League of Women Voters of Falls Church invited the public to participate in shaping the discussion about amending the Constitution.
