
The Falls Church Education Foundation awarded more than $67,000 in grants to Falls Church City Public Schools programs on Thursday, Oct. 22 as part of its Super Grants program. There were 18 applicants requesting over $100,000 in funding for a wide variety of Pre-K – grade 12 programs.
Among the winners were programs at Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School and Thomas Jefferson and Mt. Daniel Elementary Schools. Mary Ellen Henderson received a grant of $10,000 for its Fountas and Pinnell Leveled-Literacy Intervention System, which allow extension of the program to grades 6‐8 to provide consistency to students who need intensive reading support.
Thomas Jefferson and Mt. Daniel Elementary Schools received a $20,000 grant Jan Richardson’s “The Next Step in Guided Reading” professional development program.
