VDOT Says Final Vote on I-66 Tolls Dec. 8

Virginia Department of Transportation officials conducting a briefing and question period before a standing room only crowd at Falls Church’s Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School Tuesday night said that a final vote on the adoption of plans that include adding tolls to Interstate 66 at peak morning and late afternoon hours will occur on Dec. 8. The current construction on I-66 that has been interrupting traffic around Falls Church for many months will be completed once and for all within a month, the audience was told. An evaluation of the toll process will be conducted after five years to see if widening of the road will be required.

The goal, they said, was for the road to accommodate an additional 40,000 riders a day by 2040.
