Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 30, South West Street will be closed from Parker to Fowler streets as the City of Falls Church moves into the next phase of its S. West. reconstruction project. A press release from the City says the latest phase is expected to last from one to two weeks but “staff is optimistic it will end sooner.”
During the road closure, a detour will direct traffic from Parker Avenue to Ellison Street to Fowler Street.
The City project is reconstructing aging infrastructure along S. West St. and repairing stormwater facility crossings and failing pavement when needed. Where the pavement does not need to be repaired, the street surface will be milled and repaved.
More information and a look at past and future phases of the project can be found on the City of Falls Church’s website.
