Beyer Appointed to Joint Economic Committee

Freshman U.S. Rep. Don Beyer, the Falls Church businessman and past Chamber of Commerce president who was elected in November to represent the 8th District of Virginia that includes the City of Falls Church, has been appointed by his party leadership to the prestigious and important bicameral Joint Economic Committee, it was announced yesterday.

Rep. Beyer issued a statement saying, “I am honored to have the chance to serve on the Joint Economic Committee. I hope to use my 40 years of experience running our family business as we fight for the rights of working families to create a new, sustainable American economy. It is time we give our families and women – who make up half of the workforce and are breadwinners in over 40 percent of American households – the support they need. Ensuring women’s success in the workforce is the best way to jumpstart the middle class economy.”
