Jody’s Jam of the Week: Reel Independent Film Extravaganza 2014

reelindependeceThis weekend, D.C.’s very own version of the Oscars is taking place right here in Merrifield.

The first annual IndieCapitol Awards will honor D.C., Maryland and Virginia filmmakers and their accomplishments at Mosaic District’s Angelika Film Center this Sunday. The awards ceremony is just part of the Reel Independent Film Extravaganza, the fifth annual event showcasing independently produced, local films alongside international independent offerings. During the week-long festival, which kicks off this Friday, screenings of 25 films will take place at West End Cinema in D.C.

Screenings are $11 each, a weekend pass is $30 and a week-long pass is $45.
