smithsonianmusuemday

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so the Smithsonian should be blushing hard this weekend. On Saturday, thousands of museums across the country will copy the D.C. institution’s no-cost admission policy and open their doors free of charge as part of Smithsonian Magazine’s 10th annual Museum Live Day. Some of the local museums participating in the event include the Crime Museum, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the National Building Museum and the Newseum.

In order to qualify for free admission, tickets (good for two people) must be requested and downloaded online. In addition, all the day’s participants will receive a free one-year subscription to the digital edition of Smithsonian magazine.
