McLean High to Perform ‘Secret Garden’

The McLean High School Choral Society will open “The Secret Garden” this Thursday, May 29, at 7 p.m. The production runs through June 1 with performances at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.

This classic of children’s literature is re-imagined in musical style by composer Lucy Simon and Marsha Norman, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright. Orphaned in India, 11 year-old Mary Lennox returns to Yorkshire to live with her embittered, reclusive uncle Archibald and his invalid son Colin. The estate’s many wonders include a magic garden which beckons the children with haunting melodies and the “Dreamers,” spirits from Mary’s past who guide her through her new life.

Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors. McLean High School is located at 1633 Davidson Road, McLean. For more information, visit mhschoralsociety.com.
