Scouts from Falls Church Troop 895 volunteered this past weekend to help at the 150th anniversary New Market Battlefield reenactment.

The boys provided essential support to help control parking arrangements at an event that saw record attendance.

The troop set up camp next to historic interpreters portraying the famed Virginia Military Academy cadets, the soldiers who saved the day for the Confederate army in their defense of the Shenandoah Valley.

In the past year, the troop has also been committed to service in the local community and participates in the semiannual clean-up of Falls Church City and placing flags on the graves of veterans at the National Memorial Park.
