Over 40 people gathered at Frady Park last Saturday to celebrate the 122nd Arbor Day in Falls Church. The VPIS-led event marked the 36th consecutive year the City has been awarded the title of Tree City USA, a nationwide designation sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation.

More than 40 trees were planted Saturday morning by the Neighborhood Tree Program bringing the program’s total well beyond 700 trees since 2000. Local dignateries at the event included (left to right) Keith Thurston of VPIS, F.C. Councilmembers Phil Duncan, Dave Snyder and Dave Tarter, Blake Jordan of the Virginia Department of Forestry, David Chojnacky of the Tree Commission, Seth Heminway of the Neighborhood Tree Program and Mike Collins, director of Public Works.
