MEH Takes Most Awards at History Day Regionals

Twenty Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School students participated at the National History Day regional competition on March 1 at Mount Vernon High School in Alexandria. This year’s theme was “Rights and Responsibilities.” MEHMS students won the most awards and had the most first-place finishes in the region. All first- and second-place finishers will advance to the state competition in Williamsburg on April 26.

Sigrid Edson placed first in the Historical Paper category, and Sean Swick placed second. Miles Lankford placed first in the Individual Performance category. Annette Schlitt placed first in the Individual Website category. Yael Cohen, Estelle Timar-Wilcox, and Cindy Lay placed first in the Group Documentary category.
