Winter Storm Warning in Effect for Falls Church Tuesday

With the forecast calling for up to six inches of snow, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the D.C.-area including Falls Church on Tuesday.

As of 10:30 p.m. Monday, Falls Church City Public Schools will be open Tuesday and F.C. government will open on time with employees allowed unscheduled leave after checking with a supervisor.

The warning is in effect from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday and calls for heavy snow in the late morning and through the afternoon. There is expected to be four to six inches of accumulation with temperatures dropping into the teens and the wind chill in the single digits, dropping to -10 Tuesday night.

Morning and evening commutes are expected to be impacted and the NWS cautions that roads will be snow covered and slippery and visibility will be reduced to less than a half-time at times.
