The Falls Church man convicted of killing a 19 year-old Falls Church woman in 2010 was sentenced to 49 years in prison Friday.

Vanessa Pham, a graduate of Oakton High School, was stabbed to death in her car in June of 2010 near Fairfax Plaza Shopping Center on Gallows Road in Falls Church. After a a two-and-a-half year search for her killer, Julio Blanco Garcia, 27, was arrested in December of 2012 and found guilty of first-degree murder in August of this year.

The prosecution said Garcia encountered Pham in the parking lot of the shopping center and, having smoked PCP, asked Pham for a ride for him and his 1-year old daughter to the hospital before stabbing the 19-year old 13 times in her car.

The judge in the case gave Garcia the jury-recommended 49 year sentence.
