Falls Church City Attorney John Foster Departs for Fairfax County Post

John Foster, the embattled City Attorney for the City of Falls Church through its last half-dozen years’ bitter legal disputes with Fairfax County over the City’s water system, has been named the new division counsel for the Fairfax County Public Schools, his new employer has announced.

Foster was named the Falls Church City Attorney in 2008, serving as the legal counsel for both the City Council and the School Board. Foster’s contribution to the eventual mediated settlement of the City’s dispute with Fairfax County late last year was considered a major achievement of his tenure here.

Prior to coming to Falls Church, he was an assistant county attorney in the Fairfax County Attorney’s office. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Virginia Law School.

According to a City of Falls Church press release issued today, Foster will depart for his new job with FCPS in December.
