Falls Church Attorney Rob Duffett Dies After Lengthy Illness

Robert Jeffrey Duffett, 47, a member of the Falls Church lawfirm of Baskin, Jackson and Duffett, died on August 11, 2013 following a lengthy battle with a cancerous brain tumor.

Duffett graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1984, Indiana University in 1988 and the T.C. Williams School of Law in the University of Richmond in 1991. He began his practice with the Baskin, Jackson and Duffett firm at that time, specializing in landlord-tenant law. He frequently spoke and lectured on this area of the law, and was responsible for the creation and publications of The Virginia Landlord.

Survivors include his wife, Gretchen B. Duffett; daughters, Caroline K. Duffett and Laura W. Duffett; father, Benton S. Duffett, Jr.; brothers, Benton S. Duffett III and David J. Duffett; and an abundance of friends. The First Baptist Church of Alexandria was an important part of his entire life where he served as a trustee.

The family will receive friends at the Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 West Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA on Sunday, August 18, 2013 from 12:30 to 3:00 pm and 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A service of remembrance will be held on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Alexandria, 2932 King Street, Alexandria, VA. Burial will be at the Ivy Hill Cemetery in Alexandria.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that consideration be given to a memorial contribution to the First Baptist of Alexandria Foundation, Inc. of the same address, or to the National Brain Tumor Society, 55 Chapel Street, Suite 200, Newton, MA 02458, www.braintumor.org.
