Wodiska Considers Bid for Council

With next Tuesday as the deadline for filing, former Falls Church School Board chair Joan Wodiska issued a statement yesterday saying, “At the request of and with community members, I am exploring the possibility of running for (the Falls Church) City Council.”

Wodiska’s is the only new name to surface in the last week as a candidate for either the F.C. City Council or School Board in the November election. All candidates must submit 125 valid petition signatures and other forms to the City’s Voter Registrar to be certified for the ballot. For City Council, with four seats being contested, Vice Mayor David Snyder and former Councilman Dan Sze have been certified, and Mary Beth Connelly and Robert LaJenneuse have confirmed their active effort to be certified for the ballot.

No final word has come from any of three City Council incumbents about their plans to seek re-election, Johannah Barry, Ira Kaylin and Ron Peppe.

For School Board, with five seats being contested, only current chair Susan Kearney, former Councilman Lawrence Webb, Michael Ankuma and Peggy Ward.
