Author & Farmer to Sign New Book at Area Farmers’ Markets

Forrest Pritchard, author of Gaining Ground: A Story of Farmers’ Markets, Local Food, and Saving the Family Farm, will be selling and signing copies of the new book at two area farmers’ markets and during an author talk this month. All events are open to the public and admission is free.

Pritchard is a professional farmer, writer, and public speaker. “Gaining Ground” is Pritchard’s memoir of his efforts to save his family’s farm, Smith Meadows. One of the first “grass finished” farms in the country, Smith Meadows has sold at leading farmers’ markets in Washington, D.C. for 15 years.

This Saturday, June 8, Pritchard will sign copies of the book at the Arlington Farmers’ Market at the intersection of N. Courthouse Road and N. 14th Street. The market’s hours are 8 a.m. – 12.

The following Saturday, June 15, “Gaining Ground” will be available for sale at Falls Church City’s Farmers’ Market, and Pritchard will do a book signing. The market is located in the City Hall parking lot at 300 Park Ave., is open from 8 a.m. – noon.

One More Page Books, an independent bookstore in Arlington, will host an author talk and book signing for Pritchard on Wednesday, June 26, at 7 p.m. at the Arlington Central Library, 1015 N. Quincy St., Arlington.
