New Dominion Chorale to Perform ‘Yizkor Requiem’

New Dominion Chorale will conclude its 22nd season on Sunday, April 7, with a 4 p.m. performance of “Yizkor Requiem: A Quest for Spiritual Roots.” Yizkor Requiem, composed by Chorale founder and artistic director Thomas Beveridge, is a unique fusion of Jewish and Christian rituals honoring the dead, and will be performed on Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Performing the part of the cantor in Yizkor Requiem is prominent Jewish cantor, tenor Benjamin Warschawski. Other soloists are soprano Arianna Zukerman and mezzo-soprano Heather Johnson. In addition to their participation in Yizkor Requiem, Zukerman and Johnson will perform with the Chorale in several works by Felix Mendelssohn, including “I Waited for the Lord” and “Hear My Cry.”

The performance will take place at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center on the Alexandria Campus of Northern Virginia Community College, 3001 North Beauregard St., Alexandria.

Tickets are $30 for general admission, $25 for seniors, and $5 for students and children. For more information, visit newdominion.org.
