Stuart Gym to be Named for Longtime Girls Hoops Coach

In a ceremony this Friday, the J.E.B. Stuart High School gymnasium will be named for former teacher and coach Ron Wilson.

Wilson taught for 37 years at J.E.B. Stuart High School in special education and physical education and coached in the girls’ basketball program for 37 years. For 27 of those years, he was the varsity head coach in charge of all aspects of the program.

A double-header varsity basketball game versus Wakefield High School is planned for this Friday, Feb. 1, and at the conclusion of the girls’ varsity game (at around 7 p.m.), Director of Student Activities Brian Garvey will recap Wilson’s career highlights and panels below each of the scoreboards will be unveiled reading “Ron Wilson Gymnasium.”
