Lifelong F.C. Resident Paul Karnis Dies at 60

Lifelong Falls Church resident Paul A. Karnis died Monday, Jan. 7,  in Falls Church. He was 60 years old.

Karnis was born July 15, 1952, in Leesburg. He graduated in 1971 from George Mason High School.

Karnis was a letter carrier in Falls Church for 20 years and had recently retired with plans to move to Johnson City, Tennessee. He was the beloved father of Jessica, Emily, and Katherine Karnis; son of Lenore Karnis and John Karnis (deceased); and brother of Mark, Mary, Margaret, Joseph (deceased), Elizabeth, John (deceased), Dorothy, and Thomas.

A public memorial service will be held at the Cherry Hill Park picnic pavilion this Saturday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m. Following the service a reception will be held at VFW Post 9274, 7118 Shreve Road, Falls Church.

Karnis had served on the board of directors for the Falls Church McLean Children’s Center and supported the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to these organizations.
