(Courtesy Photo)Homestretch celebrated the opening of Kidstretch last week, a licensed day care facility for children between ages 3 and 5 years that will operate in the same building as the organization’s headquarters in Falls Church. Homestretch is a non-profit organization that assists homeless families to achieve self-sufficiency.

Kidstretch has been under construction for almost a year, with almost all of the work being completed pro bono by local business and local faith communities providing the materials. Dulin United Methodist Church provided funds needed for completion; Lewisville Presbyterian and Temple Rodef Shalom provided additional funds, books and school supplies; Niles Bolton Associates provided architectural drawings; Primatics Financial and Integrity Management purchased and assembled the classroom furniture; Sherwin Williams employees provided and installed the flooring and paint; and Clark Construction completed required renovations to meet licensing requirements.

The Rotary Clubs of McLean, Burke, Fairfax, Vienna, Tysons, Reston, Falls Church, Alexandria and Bailey’s Crossroads provided funding for the goods and services for which donors could not be found.

The program is currently enrolling children and expects to be at capacity in two months.
