Voting has opened in the 2012 America’s Favorite Farmers’ Market contest, sponsored by the American Farmland Trust, and the City of Falls Church Farmers’ Market is in the running. Voting is open through Sept. 3.
Last year, the farmers’ market was voted third among medium-size markets in the nation-wide contest, and first among medium-size markets in Virginia. In 2010, the market was voted first among all medium-size markets in the United States.
The City of Falls Church Farmers’ Market is open year round, and hosts more than 15 local farmers and producers in the winter and more than 40 the rest of the year. Vendors offer fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables, cheeses, meats, baked goods, plants, and wine. The market is open January through March, 9 a.m. – noon, and April through December, open 8 a.m. – noon. It is located in the City Hall Parking Lot, 300 Park Ave., Falls Church.
