New Stuart High Principal Announced

Herndon High School Assistant Principal Prosperanta Calhoun has been selected as the new principal of J.E.B. Stuart High School.

Fairfax County Public Schools Assistant Superintendent Dan Parris made the announcement today in a letter to the Stuart community.

Calhoun taught math at Glasgow Middle School, then Hughes Middle School, before moving into an administrative role as the assistant principal of Herndon Middle School. She is a graduate of Jacksonville University, who later earned a master’s degree from George Mason University.

In his letter, Parris remarked upon Calhoun’s “considerable administrative experience at two instructional levels,” “strong instructional background,” and her fluency in three languages.

Calhoun will be stepping into the position July 2 after the retirement of Pamela Jones, a 34-year veteran of the school who has been principal since 2006.
