Group Announces Rally at F.C. City Hall Monday to Oppose Water Sale

A group calling itself “Food and Water Watch” has announced it is organizing a rally to be held on the steps of the Falls Church City Hall Monday at 7 p.m. prior to the F.C. City Council meeting where a procedural “first reading” for possible sale of the Falls Church Water System is slated for a vote.

According to a press statement, the sale of the Falls Church system would drive up water costs to consumers. Users of the system, according to the statement, “will be paying the cost of this sale through increased rates and loss of control over how these decisions are made.” The “Food and Water Watch” describes itself as “a consumer protection organization that works to ensure that the food, water and fish we consume is safe, accessible and sustainable.”
