Mustangs Move Into District Hoops Final with Clarke County Win

With a 60-43 victory over Clarke County High School Tuesday, the George Mason High School boys varsity basketball tem will move on to play William Monroe High School Thursday in the championship round of the Bull Run District tournament.

After starting off the game behind with a 14-11 first quarter, the Mustang attempts to comeback were abated by five 3-pointers in the second quarter from the Eagles. The Mustangs were only down 31-25 at halftime, though, and took the lead for the first time in the game midway through the third quarter.

Senior forward Dimitri Venets led the Mustangs for the first time this season with 19 points. Senior forward Nate Ogle and senior guard/forward Philippe Griffiths added 12 and 11 points respectively.
