F.C. High Students Open President Obama Event

President Barack Obama spoke before hundreds of Falls Church residents at the James Lee Community Center last week. At the beginning of the presentation, students from Falls Church High School helped lead the singing of the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Students Gabi Cohn and Rakeb Teshome, both National Honor Society members, represented their school. Cohn led the pledge and Teshome the anthem. These students were selected as a result of their work with the Readers are Leaders program – a program that the FCHS National Honor Society has been working with at the Graham Road Elementary School. In the program, high school students go to the elementary schools and the James Lee Community Center to assist with young readers who may be struggling with their skills.
