Church Organ’s Renovation to Be Fêted in Recital

The First Christian Church of Falls Church will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the installation of its organ with a rededication recital that will showcase the organ’s new sound and improved capabilities following a recent renovation by its builder, Casavant-Frères. The recital will be held Jan. 22 at 1 p.m.

Playing the concert will be the church’s organist, Wesley McCune. The program will include a Handel organ concerto adapted for organ solo by 20th Century French organist Marcel Dupré, two pieces by French composer Jehan Alain, a J.S. Bach choral fantasie just discovered in 2008, as well as Bach’s famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor. Also performing will be soprano Karin Paludan, opera, operetta and musical theater singer, and trumpeter Christopher Roussey, a member of the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own.”

First Christian Church is located at 6165 Leesburg Pike, near the Seven Corners area. For more information, call 703-532-8220.
