F.C. School Board Issues Call for Appointment to Fill Vacancy

The Falls Church School Board in a work session tonight determined to issue an open call to citizens of Falls Church who wish to seek a temporary appointment to fill a vacancy on the board. The board determined to invite the public to seek the position by writing a letter to the board due by noon on Jan. 18, with a decision to be made by the board at a special meeting at 7:30 a.m. on the 19th. The appointment would be only until a special election to fill the vacancy in May. The vacancy was created by the resignation of board chair Pat Riccards last month due to a career reassignment out of the city.

The School Board determined to wait until making its appointment on the 19th to select an interim chair and vice chair of the board, as well as to make other assignments for board members.
